Swim-a-mile is inspired by a courageous young boy named Ian Daly who died a year and a half after being diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. Every year in an effort to keep his memory alive, his family hold the swim-a-mile event. Participants can swim the mile on their own or as part of a group. This year the event will be held on 16th and 17th of April. The organisation raises much needed funds for Barretstown and Crumlin hospital, both of which try to help children with serious illnesses. Crumlin try to make the children better and Barretstown try to help them to forget the are even sick at all. They provide much needed support for both parents and children alike.
